Placid: (adj) pleasantly calm or peaceful; unruffled; tranquil; serenely quiet or undisturbedd

Another thing I love about photography? When I go back and look at images, the feeling and emotion brought about in the moment becomes real again.

This night was calm and beautiful, warm and golden. Aly & Chris were relaxed and placid, ready to just go with the flow as we took the time to document the summer of their engagement.

These images are for their custom photography guest book for signing on their wedding day. Can’t wait to get it to you, Aly & Chris! It was so nice to be with you again– I always leave with a smile on my face and laughter in my heart. And so that’s what I wish for both of you– a placid, peaceful life with blessings and joy.

‘Looking forward to your August wedding!

So, Aly and Chris’s first engagement session was on a beautiful, white, snowy, COLD winter day. So I wanted to use props that said, “Summertime.” And to follow is what I came up with:

I love their smiles here– and how Chris has a little drip of watermelon juice on his chin. Hello, summer!

LOVE the light in this one– the flowers, the dress, the glass jars.

I’ve had this image in my head as an idea for awhile now, and knew it would be a lot of work to get it. Well, it was. Lens flare always makes me jump through hoops to get it. But when it’s caught? Oh, so worth the trouble it causes. One of my favorite, favorite images:

Yes, they do look at each other like this, umprompted by me-

All I can think of with this picture is, “It won’t be a stylish marriage, I can’t afford a carriage; but you’ll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.” Ah, memories of song tapes from my childhood…

This light is just… perfect.

On to Fox Hill:

We were losing light fast, but not so fast that I couldn’t grab this one-

Don’t know what it is about it, but I like this one. A lot.

This next series of four pictures makes my heart smile. Well, if it could smile, my heart would do so about these four images. See how he looks at her?

I like it when people enjoy laughter. Aly and Chris didn’t disappoint.

And a few more from the reception site from their August wedding– This is Chris’ grandpa’s land– so beautiful. And since their wedding portraits will be taken elsewhere, we decided to take some pictures here. Good choice, with the beautiful green grass and warm, glowing light.

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.”
