Zahner. Party of 5.

So here’s where I admit my inadequacy. I am a little behind on birthdays. Well, worse than a little. April’s a busy month. (Yes, that’s not a typo. I know it’s June.) Our twins have a birthday on the 5th of April, my sister on the 6th, my nephew on the 10th, my niece also on the 10th, my sister-in-law on the 18th, my nephew on the 25th. April was a busy and sickly month in this household. I have yet to give my nephews their gift cards. Which have been in my purse for weeks. My sister-in-law will see her gift at some point, I hope. My niece? Maybe this summer when we vacation together. Whew. But my sister? Oh, I cheated. I kept forgetting to get my act together, and I knew she wanted family photos. She’s a photographer and takes beautiful pictures on her own, but trying to get your own family to cooperate for photos can be a little difficult. So? I told her I’d do a session for her birthday gift. I felt a little guilty, but she seemed okay with it…
I’m glad it worked out. We were able to access a beautiful spot that Katie’s been telling me about for a long time. We had fun together; their kids and ours played and ran and hung out with Uncle Paul. And then we got ice cream. I guess it all worked out in the end.

Kevin, Katie, Ryan, Brandon and Darren.

Happy extremely Belated.

Love you.

I’m starting this off with my very favorite of all.

Isn’t Connecticut pretty? (Well, and they’re a cute family, too.)

I like this next picture. Looking at the camera, hands in pockets, all formal smiles. I like it. But…

I love this one. These are my boys. This is who they are. Laughing until their sides hurt. Throwing their heads into it. Moving their shoulders. Smiling so hard their lips turn white. And all I had to do was tell them my (sometimes) nickname from when I was a kid, given to me by one of my notorious sisters. A nickname which is no longer used, thankyouverymuch.

Nonetheless, that nickname came in quite handy with three boys who needed to give me a real smile.

Yup, I love this one. Forget the formal stance, the perfect smiles. This is who they really are. The boys.

Kate - So exciting to wake up to!! Thank you so much Betsy – we all love them! I may love to take photos – but I can not get those 3 boys to cooperate and have the photos come out this well – I’ve tried many times :) It was a great evening and you captured that!

Jeff - Well, it appears to me by the looks on their faces that you probably haven’t heard the last of THAT nickname!
