CT Wedding. Ev & Kristin.

Theirs was a day which was appreciated and worked for, as the beginning of any marriage is. So many hours spent planning and working, so many hours spent hoping and building. Kristin & Everett were married at the home Ev built with many hours of hard work, support, and family. He wanted it to be finished in time for the wedding day, so that he and Kristin could get married at what would be their new home. The week of the wedding, things were just a little stressful… Mix in an unexpected and very unwelcome late October CT snowstorm right before a beginning of November outdoor wedding, and things can be a little dark. Literally. As in no electricity for days. But somehow, amidst all the rush and worry of the days prior, much of that was forgotten when the wedding day arrived. A hillside that had been covered in snow the day before melted in time, with a little help from groomsmen and shovels. The sun came out. The power, well, it didn’t come back on at the ceremony site. But it did in time for the reception. It was a beautiful, unseasonably mild November day. The light was golden and enveloping. There were family and friends. There was bittersweet longing for one who will always be missed. There were prayers and memories and thankfulness, all rolled into one. And Kristin and Ev got married.

Ev & Kristin, I hope that someday many long years from now, you’re sitting right there on your back porch watching the sunset– that you’re old and grey and happy as you view the years that God has given you. That you’ll look over the water and smile, and reach for each others’ wrinkled hand and remember. I hope that through the sunshine, the trials, all the little moments in your life, you’ll have each other. Someday, many long years from now, may you look back on all the joy and the happiness, the adversity and the October snowstorms of life, and know that through it all, you were blessed.
