Officially.

This was a day of celebration. Of knowing deep within that it was important and something to be saved in memory to tell their sweet little girl. Because this was the day that it all became official, that soft and sweet and happy Marin would be theirs. For real. For always. And someday, when she’s a little older, they’ll tell her all about it. How the lazy snowflakes fell, drifting in silent sweeps. How everyone smiled and remembered. How the day brought a continuation of family. Marin will know about the day her adoption became official in the eyes of the court, how there were family photos, how their joy brimmed over into thankful hearts. Most of all she’ll know that even though the documents marked a specific date as official, it happened months before, on the day of her birth. The moment her Mom and Dad held her in their arms, Marin had their hearts. For always. She was theirs. Long before this day. Officially.
