Sometimes the things closest to your heart are the most difficult to put into adequate words.
I love these kids. Really, really love them. And every time I get to photograph them, it makes my heart squeeze a little, to see the passing of time, to feel the memory-soaked laughter of these 6. So, so many memories over a decade and a half. Even that’s hard to believe, that passing of that many days. Each time I do their photos, it’s not about perfect pictures, but another memory made. It’s always laid-back, they’re happy and smiling, and we just do our thing. Oftener than not, we end with a run for ice cream, piling into two or three cars, calling Paul and the kids to join us. I hope they remember this, the spontaneity of being young, the closeness of friendship, and the love we have for every single one of them.
This is Samantha, Elsa, Lois, Owen, Maddie, and Tucker. Constantly growing up. And always, always loved.
