Happy summer weekend.

It’s a beautiful day for a picnic.  And that’s just what we’re going to do. Because it’s summer, and I love these 3 children.  A lot.  So I want to make memories, and soak in their little idiosyncrasies, listen to their stories, and hear them giggle.  I want to ride in the car with Paul and get some time to talk, while three bookworms read in the backseat, oblivious to our conversation.  I want to get out and feel the warmth of the sun, and watch them run through the grass, smiling at the beauty of the day.  I want enjoy their little hands when they reach up to hold mine, and remember that now is the time to enjoy, this is the life, that here is the living, in the right now. All those things we think about, all the goals we plan for, the lists we make, the dreams we hope to achieve, are good.  And healthy.  But I want to remember that right now, in this place, we have a wonderful little life together. We are living. Right now. Because dreams and goals and plans and lists can wait.  For today.

It’s a beautiful day for a picnic. And that’s just what we’re going to do.

Enjoy the weekend!

O summer day beside the joyous sea!”

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
