Friday Favorite. #16.

It’s Friday.

It’s cold. Wicked cold.

So this Friday’s favorite? It’s more like a public service announcement.

Seriously.

You’re gonna’ thank me.

I could tell you that my feet are always cold.

Painfully so.

No, really. I could tell you that mixing poor circulation and a thyroidectomy plus winter becomes a painful equation. I’ve tried toe warmers, foot warmers, hand warmers, wool socks, fuzzy socks, LLBean slippers, knee socks, double-stacked toe warmers. And my feet are cold. Still cold. I’m pretty much an expert in what doesn’t work for cold feet. Unfortunately, I have yet to be an expert in what does work.

And then.

We had a Yankee Swap at our Ryan Christmas.

And I opened a little bag with a gift note in it:

“A pair of wool felted slippers of your choice from Etsy.”

And it was then that I hoped no one stole my gift.

They didn’t.

And then I was glad.

But now?

Now, I’m kind of ecstatic.

Because my Mom came up this week and brought me my new slippers.

They are cute. And spiffy. And cheerful.

Warm.

Right now, I’m at my desk, and there are tile floors beneath my feet.

And my feet are warm.

Mmhmm.

It’s nice for a change.

I may be wearing them until, oh, July or so- when I can finally go barefoot and stand on the black asphalt driveway and warm my toes. I love to do that, stand with my feet on the hothothot pavement until they become warm. Or, maybe I won’t have to this summer. Maybe I’ll just wear my slippers all year. I could. They’re cute enough.

Would you like a pair of your own?

Yes, you would.

You can get them here.

Did you see the orange ones?

Know what? I like the fact that the slippers are made right up the road from us, in Boston.

Yup.

I also like the fact that the craftmanship is beautiful, the quality excellent. I like the fact that there is a nice latex pad on the bottom, so I can wear them outside. To the post office. The grocery store. (Yes, I will.) And the warmth? Well, we’ve already covered that.

You will be glad you got them.

I have a feeling, anyway.

Thank you, Mom.

I kinda’ like ‘em.

Cheryl - Thanks to Jovita, my pair is arriving in a few days and when your father gets home, he has a pair of masculine ones waiting to warm his “always freezing” feet too!

Cheryl - I should have mentioned that we ordered the slippers and they were made to order and then were shipped and we still had them in hand in 2 weeks! Fast service!

Julie - You mean that there is actually a way to warm up feet that are always!always! cold?? My feet are cold from October to July so I understand the whole “stand on hot pavement idea” Which just the thought of doing it gave me a smile :o) These slippers look delightfully warm! Will check into them!

Donna - If you’re anything like our family at our Webb Christmas, you probably “kinda hid” the little bag so no one would “steal” it from you! Glad you found something to keep your little feet warm. I love the slippers — very cute — they look like you.

Betsy - @ Donna: Sounds like you have us figured out! :)
