A little bit of winter warmth.

So, this was my first time knitting a hat. After hearing from my sisters and my friend Carole as to just how easy they are, I decided to try making one as a surprise for Paul. It was quick and fun and easy, and I see many knitted hats in the future of this family.

Joel doesn’t show up on this blog very often lately. Um, he’s 13. So, a little less-than-interested in the camera. But when I explained that his head shape is exactly like his dad’s, and I needed to make sure it would work for Paul, (pleeeeease) he acquiesced. I’m glad he did. Because forget the hat, I like to think the kid is pretty spiffy, too.

I find that as the weather turns colder, I’m even more enthusiastic about knitting. When I can’t sleep, it’s the perfect relaxation technique. In other words, I’ve been knitting a lot lately. Lots to share and lots of patterns I’m thinking about trying…

On Ravelry here. I used this yarn. The Fisher Cable hat pattern is free, and well-written, so I’ll be using it again, for sure.

jill - You have some friends in MN (where it’s really cold) that would love a hat or one of those cool scarves you knit. Of course, they know absolutely nothing about knitting. Guess they’ll have to continue to buy theirs from a store…

Kara - Looks great Betsy! I love the yarn choice and it looks great on Joel, but will look pretty stellar on Paul too!
