(In which you suffer the experience of being inside my head.)
~
-Our little girl is home from the hospital. So glad.
-Our house is occupied again.
-I like the sounds, and conversation, and Legos being clinked around.
-I like to hear book pages being turned. Paul cooking, boys arguing, (well, I don’t like that), a little girl sleeping.
-So tired and emotional after the storm.
-I really rely on my parents during these kinds of stress. Good thing they love me.
-I’m so glad she’s okay.
-There’s no place like home.
-The boys are home from Aunt Katie’s. We are so glad.
-This momma hen is happy to have all her chicks back where they belong.
-There’s no place like home.
-Paul and I agree- we can’t wait to see Nora smile again.
-We miss her high-pitched, reedy voice. This surgery is the only thing that has ever quieted her. Didn’t know how much I’d miss it.
-I’m so glad she’s okay.
-Didn’t know a fairly common surgery would wreak such havoc on her little body.
-Glad I didn’t know.
-So glad to be out of the hospital before Hurricane Irene hits Connecticut. That would be less than fun. I keep thinking of the many families we met this week who are still at the hospital for the long haul.
-I’m so glad she’s okay.
-Our friends and families are so good to us.
-Things are looking up.
-There’s no place like home.
-I don’t like being at two different hospitals with two different family members within less than two weeks. I haven’t been home for more than 48 hours in a row since August 11th. I hope to never repeat anything like it. Ever.
-I am thankful for antibiotics.
-I am thankful for narcotics. In safe, legal doses for post-op pain.
-I am thankful for a healthy husband.
-I am thankful for a healthy daughter.
-I am thankful for two boys who have been troopers through two rather nutty weeks.
-I’m thankful for in-laws.
-For sisters.
-For friends.
-We have lots of good neighbors.
-I loved seeing Joel and Connor welcome their sister home. Enough to put a lump in my throat.
-I don’t like hospitals.
-Nurses are pretty awesome.
-I don’t like hospitals.
-At all.
-I am going to be working in hospitals in about two weeks- from now until I retire.
-But for now, I don’t like them.
-In the grand scheme of things, this won’t seem to be as a big of a deal after some time passes and clarity returns.
-Ready for time and clarity.
-I miss her smile.
-There’s no place like home.
-I need to go school shopping.
-I can’t find my stethoscope.
-Where’s my syllabus?
-Oh, man. Joel has a physical Monday.
-I wonder how bad Hurricane Irene will be.
-I should get some ice and batteries.
-Maybe his physical will be canceled.
-Maybe school will be postponed.
-Right.
-Great. Where are the school supply lists that we got in the mail?
-Shh. Take therefore no thought for the morrow…
-There’s no place like home.
