Betsy Jo Photography Blog bio picture
  • WELCOME!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Betsy, and I like taking pictures-- of people, most of all. I'm wife to Paul and mother to Joel, Nora and Connor. They are my favorite subjects. I'm a Special Care nurse by day, a knitter and reader by night. I love New England, and Cape Cod most of all.

I am available for some limited travel, especially if it's to Ireland or some other lovely clime.

Wanna' get in front of my camera? Get in touch and we'll set up a session!

Nice and Knit hat.

I love to knit year-round, it’s true. But when the calendar turns to September, my desire for it increases even more. I love watching quick, easy, weather-appropriate objects fly off the needles.
Case in point? This awesome Nice and Knit beanie, done up in their Harpoon color way. Finished in just a few hours, and as soft as can be. The pattern is perfect- and free to boot.
I bound off the last stitch, and thought, “That was fun.”
And then cast on for another one.

(Typical.)

*Sidenote:  We added on a big south-facing room this summer, full of windows. I took these photos in there this evening, on a grey, drizzly day. The light in there is enough to make me squeal. It makes my stomach turn in the best way. ‘Loving it, and feeling grateful.

Tami L - I love the hat, and I’m glad that you got a nice big sunny room :) I’m trying to picture what side of your house is south! Want to see pictures!

These 6.

You know how you become acquainted with someone, and you can feel right from the beginning that you’re going to be the richer for knowing them? That’s this crew; fairly new to the East Coast, and belonging already. Sweet kids, happy light, busy laughter. It was a great night.

Katherine Rose.

Though it is rather difficult to believe, our sweet niece Katie is a senior. She’s got a smile that can bring the sun, a personality that shines, and she’s intelligent and hard-working. She’s also getting taller by the minute. She towers over her Aunt Betsy. (Not that passing a 5′ 1″ person is a feat…)

She’s the oldest daughter, the oldest grandchild, and we all love her.

She’s going places, this girl. And we can’t wait to watch it all unfold.

‘Love you, Kate.

Kelly - Spectacular! Beautiful! Gorgeous! Thank you, Betsy!

Jean-Marie Currier - Absolutely beautiful! It’s hard to believe Katie is a Senior already. I remember being at the ambulance picnic waiting for the news that Peter and Kelly’s baby was born! Best wishes Katie, you will definitely go places for sure!!!

Knitting Lately. Little Lamb.

Sometimes, I’m in the middle of a project that is turning long and tedious. It can be knitting a lace sweater, editing tons and tons of photos, or painting the sunroom. (Or all three, lately…) Sometimes you just gotta’ take a little break. Problem is, I have to get something done during that break.

So I find myself sitting in the sunshine, knitting up two little lambs for no reason at all, except to give to someone special.

Meet Hubert and Eunice.

On Ravelry here & here.

(If you’re a knitter, it’s a great, quick pattern- just a few hours of happy knitting, stuffing and sewing. You’ll smile most of the time.)

And now, it’s back to those projects. (And laundry. Sigh…)

4.

This family of 4. They’re something special, these two little curly-topped girls… Priceless. Full of spunk and personality and just plain overflowing kindness. Perfect manners, sweet childlike voices and pure little hearts.

They’re something special, through and through.
