  • WELCOME!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Betsy, and I like taking pictures-- of people, most of all. I'm wife to Paul and mother to Joel, Nora and Connor. They are my favorite subjects. I'm a Special Care nurse by day, a knitter and reader by night. I love New England, and Cape Cod most of all.

I am available for some limited travel, especially if it's to Ireland or some other lovely clime.

Wanna' get in front of my camera? Get in touch and we'll set up a session!

Sneak Peek of pure sweetness.

If I could have, I would have taken this little lovebug home with me after this shoot. But I think the parents may have noticed, seeing as they are so in love with little Carson.

Thanks so much, Scott and Kim! Your little boy is so adorable and absolutely beautiful. (Is it okay to call a boy beautiful? ‘Cuz it’s true… ) So many more images to post, but we’ll let these tide you over until then-

Ohh, his hair! I have an adorable hand-knit hat to match this baby cocoon. But I couldn’t bear to put it on his gorgeous little head of hair!

So, when I took these pictures, Carson wasn’t even 2 weeks old yet. So, yes, his mother really does look this great after having a new baby! (I still like you though, Kim!:)

And, I just wanted to show a part of their house here. It’s so beautiful! Like they live on the ocean…

Ease: (n) freedom from concern, anxiety, or solicitude; a quiet state of mind

‘Not a lot of words for this one, except to remark on the ease and quiet cherishing of Toby and Holly toward each other. Since we did all of the formal portraits before the wedding, they had 45 minutes right after the ceremony for just the two of them. (Well, and me.) It gave them time to soak in the gravity and beauty of just being married, and cherish the moments before the reception. We had to move quickly, but I hardly had to direct them at all– they were comfortable and I pretty much just had to follow them and document their first moments as husband and wife. And as I photographed them, all I could think was, “This is such a privilege.”

Holly and Toby, thank you for trusting me to capture these memories for you. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you both. And I love you enough to not be envious of your choice of countries for your honeymoon! Enjoy seeing those ’40 shades of Green’ in County Wicklow!:)

I don’t want to post too many of the formal images, because it’s nice to save them for just the family. But here are a few to tide them over:

Brothers. (and brother-in-law.) Gotta’ love ‘em.

You aren’t seeing double on this next one.

Well, actually, you kind of are.

Toby’s twin brother Todd was his best man. And since I’m a mother of twins, there’s something pretty poignant for me in this image. Before the reception meal, Todd had a prayer asking a blessing on Holly and Toby’s marriage. Suffice it to say this mom of twins had a lump in her throat.

Holly and her bridesmaid and sister, Kelly- right after Kelly arrived for portraits. I like this real moment:

Toby’s siblings:

My sister Kara did the flowers. Pretty, no? (Had to stick that in here, Kee!:)

Holly had just two requests for specific portrait poses. This next image was one of them. Nice, no?

Senior Session – Katie

This post concludes the series of Senior Session photos from this week– with the pictures of Miss Katie, who did a beautiful job! She organized the whole shoot with emails back and forth to me, and is so mature, dedicated and helpful. Which, of course, made my job exceedingly easy.

Sisters.

Friends.

Katie plays field hockey–

Katie, thank you so very much for being such a great client, and willing to do whatever I threw out there for ideas! You and Sam and Sarah made the session so enjoyable– it was great meeting all of you!

that perches in the soul.
And sings the tune
Without the words,
and never stops at all.”

All the best as you begin your senior year, Katie!

Senior Session Part 2 – Samantha

There are too many pictures from the Katie/Samantha/Sarah session to put in one post, so I’m splitting them up over today and tomorrow. We’ll start with Samantha.

And Buzz.

It’s going to become rather obvious that this spot and this outfit created some of my favorites from Samantha’s session:

In this next one, I asked Sam if she was willing to sit in a grubby parking lot with who-knows-what on the concrete underneath us. She was happy to oblige. Sometimes I ask my clients to do things that seem kind of mean. But I promise I don’t ask anything of you that I wouldn’t do myself.:)I may have been laying on the nasty concrete here. And that would explain why my elbows are all chewed up and scabby…

Yes, I was laying in the weeds. Yes, they were laughing at me.:)But the weeping willow was so pretty from this angle:

Cowgirl.

This is Buzz. He’s beautiful. And he’s Sam’s. He’s been hers since she was a year old. So we had to include him in her senior session. ‘So glad we did.

Something about all of these next few images just makes me happy. I think these 2 like each other:

Buzz likes flowers.

And Buzz likes Samantha. I had never seen a horse ‘hug’ someone until this session. He really was. It was so cute.

Love this one. Yellow flower. Warm light. Beautiful bokeh. Blue and white dress. Does it get much better?

Hmm… It just might, because I love it in black and white, too:

The eyes on this girl are remarkable.

I’ll say it again. Her eyes are remarkable. In color and in black and white:

I had to sneak one more of Buzz into this post:

So pretty.

Sam, I loved getting to know you and working with you! All the best as you begin your senior year. Thanks for being so wonderful to photograph!

My clients love comments, and I don’t exactly mind them, either.:)Feel free to leave one for Sam!
